Lake Toba Mysterious Sites
The area surrounding Lake Toba in Parapat and Samosir is
rich in historical sites and ancient artifacts from ancient times. Among these
historical sites, there are some that still hold unsolved mysteries.
This is the Mystery that has not been revealed in Lake Toba, Indonesia
Pagarbatu Megalithic Site
It contains several stones, including a large stone used for
rice grinding, a stone slab for skulls, and a cave used for hiding. On another
side, there is a meeting room carved into the rocks with four faces on each
side. Even the local residents do not know the meaning behind these faces on
the rocks.
In the 1800s, this place was a village during the Dutch
colonial era. Surrounding the village, there was a stone fortress that stood
nearly 15 meters high. Today, this place has become a tourist attraction, yet
the meaning of the facial carvings on the rocks remains a mystery.
The face is visible on Samosir Island
One of these locations is found when crossing Lake Toba
towards Tomok and the three kings. Less than halfway to Tomok, observe the view
on the left, where a face is visible on Samosir Island.
The face appears to be cynical and angry, as if conveying a
message to the Toba community not to damage the environment and pollute Lake
Toba.
To witness it, return from Tomok via the route to Ajibata or
from Tomok to the three kings. Its exact location is in the Uttamo Tum mountain
area on Samosir Island.
Batu lobang
This hole was created during the Dutch colonial period, yet
its purpose remains a mystery. Until now, the neglected state of Batu Lobang in
Parapat is concerning, as the road leading to the site is dirty and difficult
to pass.
Lake Sidihoni and Lake Aek Natonang
Moreover, if the water level drastically recedes, it
indicates an event in Indonesia. According to local residents, the lake turned
red during the 1965 G30S PKI incident and when President Soeharto resigned in
1998.
In 2004, a peculiar event occurred at the lake when a hole
the size of a door suddenly appeared, causing a drastic drop in water level.
Shortly after, in December 2004, the Aceh tsunami occurred. Another anomaly is
that the water recedes during the rainy season and becomes abundant during the
dry season.
The Sacred Cave
According to the guide there, the Sacred Cave was formed
when Oppung na Martua Pusuk Buhit or Siraja Batak arrived there. It used to be
a water area in the shape of a boat. Oppung na Martua prayed to Opung Mulajadi
Nabolon, and suddenly a cave formed which drained water which is believed to
flow to Batu Sawan.
The cave looked small and contained small corridors. This
cave remains a mystery as there is no evidence to prove that it was connected
to the next cave or how it appeared. At the entrance to the cave there is a
ladder indicating that humans may have created it.
The appearance of this rock formation
Some claim that this hole reaches the bottom of Lake Toba,
while others say that it was once a meeting place for Batak kings and queens,
with water flowing inside it until today. The origin of this rock formation
remains a mystery.
These are some of the historical sites on Samosir Island,
Indonesia, which still hold mysteries. Stay tuned for our future articles as we
explore other mysterious places that contain many unresolved peculiarities.
